ANNUAL REPORT 2018-19

Writeup about the new initiatives and achievements during 2018-19

The Station was established in the year 1905 as a Second Agricultural Research Station and functioned as Groundnut Research Station from 1905 to 1950 in Palur village of Panruti Taluk, Cuddalore District and thereafter functioned as Multi- Crop Experiment Station from 1951 -1988. It was brought under Tamil Nadu Agricultural University from 1.4.1981 and it is functioning as Vegetable Research Station since 1989.The following varieties were released from this station since inception in various agricultural and horticultural crops.

During the year 2018-19, the released varieties of vegetable seeds 380.45 kg worth of Rs,5,04,043/- , paddy 23130 kg worth of Rs.6,20,280 /- and in black gram 245 kg worth of Rs.44,100 /-were produced in this station for the benefit of farming community.

During this year two trainings were conducted in this station and around 257 farmers attended the programme. To this station 1529 visitors visited this station including school students , student from various colleges of TNAU and affiliated colleges and farmers from various districts through Department of Horticulture visited this station as a part of their academic curriculum and get benefitted.
