Crop Protection is the backbone of sustained crop production. Entomologists play an important role in identifying and managing the crop pests. Hence, a separate discipline of Entomology is essential to facilitate the students to acquire knowledge and skills on crop pests management.

Doctoral Courses
After admission the students undergo a set of courses that help them understand the basics of Entomology as per the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) with a total credit load of 75 credits, of which 40 credits are exclusively earmarked for their Thesis Research.
Doctoral thesis research
After completing the courses in the first year, the students start their thesis research. Each student is assigned to an experienced faculty, approved by the Dean of School of Post-Graduate Studies, who would guide the student on his/ her choice of research topic
Research internship
The students are exposed to several scientific events like symposia and conferences. Many are encouraged to have internship training at other institutes for a couple of months, either in India or abroad.
The central instrumentation laboratory complex has state-of-the-art equipment which fulfills all the research related needs of the students. Each of the laboratory equipment is well maintained and in good condition. Any grievances reported are given prior importance and are redressed promptly. The lab also has enough working space so that multiple students working at the same time can be accommodated without any congestion. Sanitation protocols are strictly adhered to. Overall, the working experience has been good.
