Doctorate Courses
After admission the students undergo a set of courses that help them understand the basics of Fruit Science as per the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) with a total credit load of 100 credits, of which 75 credits are exclusively earmarked for their Thesis
Research.
Doctorate thesis research
After completing the courses in the first year, the students start their thesis research. Each student is assigned to an experienced faculty, approved by the Dean of School of Post-Graduate Studies, who would guide the student on his/ her choice of research topic.
Research internship
The students are exposed to several scientific events like symposia and conferences. Many are encouraged to have internship training at other institutes for a couple of months, either in India or abroad.

A fruit science department ,did my research on “evaluation of Open Pollinated mango ( Mangifera indica ) seedling progenies for quantitative and qualitative characters”. I am very glad that I did my research with effective guidance from my chairman Dr. L. Pugalendhi, he just gave all the resources and ideas to complete my thesis in all the phases of my research work.
Dr. I. Muthuvel (Prof. and Head) Department of Fruit science, ensured in an effective way and gave full support to complete my thesis . Dr .C. Indhurani Professor (Horti) Coordinator of my department gave all her support, provided the needs , anchoring her role as coordinator in a better way.
I am very thankful for all the staff who guided me in different stages of my research. The department gives me freedom and complete support for the scholars to bring the ideas and implement our research.
The professors are student friendly where we had an easy approach to discuss things and to get our things done. I am Thank everyone again who supported me and lifted me in all odds.

I am glad to provide you with my feedback about the college. My overall experience to date has been amazing, and the college is having an amazing infrastructure. Our college has provided me with a number of opportunities to grow and explore my skills. The emphasis on research along with education always helped me a lot. It gave me the opportunity to develop my skills in Computer software and Statistical Analysis, and It also provided a chance to attend Four International conferences, Three National Conferences, Eight workshops, and Many webinars, These opportunities allowed me to develop my knowledge in broad spectrum. I have also Prepared for competitive examinations and Used the Knowledge and experience I gained from college to give consultancy services to many farmers.
