Commercialization of TNAU Technologies, Machineries and Gadgets
The crop production technologies, machineries and implements developed by TNAU are commercialized by Directorate of Agri Business Development. Technology patenting process is also being carried out before commercialization. The license is issued on non- exclusive basis with license fee fixed by the technical committee on case by case basis and royalty is also collected based on annual sales.
The Directorate of Agri Business Development and Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, TNAU, Coimbatore jointly organized a Manufacturers’ meet on 09.02.2021 to have an Industrial tie up for commercializing the machineries and gadgets developed by TNAU for the benefit of the farming community. A demonstration cum discussion on various machineries had been organized in the AEC & RI workshop premises for the benefit of the end users and stakeholders.
Buyer – Seller meet cum exhibition was conducted at Community Science College and Research Institute, Madurai on 11.10.2021 with the objective to commercialize the innovative food products developed by researchers and to forge partnership between food researchers and Industries for new product development. The event witnessed the showcasing of fifty Innovative food products developed by researchers. The products were introduced to 85 participants comprised of small and medium food industrialists, traders, food entrepreneurs and CEOs of Farmer Producer Companies through exhibition and projection of the salient features of the products. The event was also viewed online by nearly 200 participants from different walks of life.
In addition to this, the TNAU technology “Advanced formulation technology for the sustained release of disinfectants in sanitizer” was published in Television. Similarly, various other technologies are being popularized using mass media.
As on date, 17 technologies have been commercialized to 24 firms and
16 equipments / implements / machineries to 25 companies. A sum of Rs. 518.85 lakhs as license fees and Rs. 46.04 lakhs as royalty have been realized by this Directorate. In addition, research collaboration is also being undertaken with public / private firms by mutually signing an agreement.

The license for technologies are issued on non- exclusive basis for which license fee and royalty on annual sales is also collected from the firms. As on 2022, 17 technologies have been commercialized to 24 firms and 16 equipments / implements / machineries to 25 companies.
