The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) had its genesis from establishment of an Agricultural School at Saidapet, Madras, Tamil Nadu, as early as 1868 and it was later relocated at Coimbatore.
Business incubator is value adding service organization aimed to foster the care of a new venture at an early stage, increase its chances for survival and enhance the growth potential by providing comprehensive and integrated range of business development services. TNAU has incubation units at Post Harvest Technology Centre, Technology Business Incubator at Coimbatore, Madurai Agribusiness Incubation Forum, at AC&RI, Madurai. One each at Agricultural College Tiruchirappalli and Killikulam (Thoothukudi Dt), one at Horticulture College, Periyakulam and one at Forest College, Mettupalaym. A pre-incubation cluster is operating at the Centre for Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. Each of these centres have separate theme areas and undertake agribusiness incubation, technology commercialization, market and financial linkages and other business services, capacity building programs and outreach activities.
