About Our Dean
Dr. P.Masilamani received his B.Sc. (Forestry), M.Sc. (Ag.) and doctorate in Seed Science and Technology in 1989, 1992 and 1996 respectively from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. He attended an International Course on Trees for Arid Lands in IPALAC, Ben – Gurion University of the Negev, Israel during November 2002 and visited the Netherlands in September 2012 to study the impact of PVP.
Dr. P. Masilamani started his career in ‘Seeds’ at Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Kumulur, Tiruchirappalli in 1997 as an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor and elevated to Associate Professor in 2008 and promoted as a professor in 2011, where he is instrumental in creating campus with green blanket by planting and nurturing around 10000 trees. Between 2013 and 2015 he held the prestigious office of Director, National Seed Research and Training Centre, Varanashi. Thereafter his service is continued as professor in Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Kumulur, Tiruchirappalli and Agricultural College and Research Institute, Madurai (2013 -19) From January 2019 onwards he has been serving as Dean, Anbil Dharmalingam Agricultural College and Research Institute, Tiruchirappalli.
Apart from his active involvement in teaching, research and conducting training programme in Seed Production, particularly in tree species, Seed Testing, Seed Quality control and preparation of seed Plans, he has written three books, 19 research papers in international journals, 76 papers in national journals and 36 numbers of popular articles. All the publications are related to various aspects of tree seed production, seed testing and seed biology.
Dr. P. Masilamani has been honoured with Dr. G. Rangaswami Award for his outstanding research publication in Madras Agricultural Journal, Best Seed Production Scientist Award from TNAU, Coimbatore for his accomplishment in seed production, Scientist of Excellence in Niche area of Research is awarded in recognition of his meritorious contribution in the field of Teak(Tectona grandis Linn f) seed research and development and he is also conferred with Fellow of the Indian Society of Seed Technology from Indian Society of Seed Technology.
