The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) had its genesis from establishment of an Agricultural School at Saidapet, Madras, Tamil Nadu, as early as 1868 and it was later relocated at Coimbatore.

(Agricultural Information Technology) graduates find placement in various organizations in roles such as IT service facility manager, weather forecasting expert, commodity trader, farm plantation manager, supply chain manager, crop insurance manager, knowledge management expert, landscape designer, system analyst, and IT project officers in agro-based industries; RS&GIS analysts in geoinformatics industries; e-learning specialists, programmers in the IT industry, and mid-managerial positions in the banking sector.
The B.Tech. (Agricultural Information Technology) degree program is a composite of agricultural sciences, engineering, computer science, and information technology, which provides a platform for a spectrum of higher education opportunities for students. Many B.Tech (AIT) students have pursued their master’s and doctoral degrees from various reputable educational institutes in India and abroad.
