Dr. K. Eraivan Arutkani Aiyanathan, Ph.D
Dr.K. Eraivan Arutkani Aiyanathan assumed charge as the 15th Dean of Agricultural College& Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Killikulam on 22 January, 2019. Born on 25 th May, 1964.Graduated from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University and studied Ph.D in Plant Pathology. Joined as Assistant Professor in the University during 1988 and completed 31 years of service experience in teaching, research and extension. Recipient of two fellowships, three gold medals and four awards. His contributions in teaching made students in achieving various professional positions of eminence including civil servants, scientists, bank officers, Agricultural officers etc., Research guidance fetched several research scholars to get many professional research awards. Handled 12 externally funded research projects. His collaboration with the scientists from national and International Institutions updated the knowledge on recent research developments in Plant Pathology for improvement in teaching. Trained many PG and PhD students for various plant pathological and molecular techniques. He has shared the experience and knowledge gained from the foreign research institute to the student community for further development in their academic activities.
He has made Professional visit to two foreign countries viz., Thailand and USA. He played active role in the development of rice variety “TPS-4”. Guided 4 PG students and 5 PhD scholars so far.Active member in several professional bodies and academic societies of Plant Pathology and also acted as Editor in academic research journal of ISMPP. He held an active role as extension scientist in KVK, Kanyakumari, enabling farmers to solve their field problems. He has conducted more than one hundred trainings on “Management of crop diseases” to farmers, students and rural youths.
He has published more than 52 acclaimed research papers in international and national journals, including 3 books, 36 popular articles, 9 teaching manual and 16 technical cum extension bulletins.
