The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) had its genesis from establishment of an Agricultural School at Saidapet, Madras, Tamil Nadu, as early as 1868 and it was later relocated at Coimbatore.

The PG programme is being offered for the students to equip themselves with detailed crop production techniques, crop improvement methods and post harvest technology of flower crops with scientific validation and also to develop their research and entrepreneurial skill in flower production and landscape gardening for venturing into R&D and agribusiness. The faculty of the Department of Floriculture and landscaping are proficient, well experienced, knowledgeable and competent in handling the PG programme. The faculty has also won awards and recognitions at national and university level viz., Green Campus Award of ICAR, Lotus Puraskar Award, Best Teacher Award, Best oral and poster presentations in seminars and conferences.

Master Courses
After admission the students undergo a set of courses that help them understand the basics of Floriculture and Landscaping as per the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) with a total credit load of 70 credits, of which 30 credits are exclusively earmarked for their Thesis Research.
Master’s thesis research
After completing the courses in the first year, the students start their thesis research. Each student is assigned to an experienced faculty, approved by the Dean of School of Post-Graduate Studies, who would guide the student on his/ her choice of research topic
Research internship
The students are exposed to several scientific events like symposia and conferences. Many are encouraged to have internship training at other institutes for a couple of months, either in India or abroad.

I am Pooja P currently doing my 1st M.Sc in Floriculture and Landscape Architecture at Coimbatore I am really happy about department and also about TNAU where I am going through lot of infrastructures, library ,lab, good lecturers and professor, also field facilities which will be helpful for my present and future education. The whole garden is filled with different plants with bar code facility which feels me grateful to learn with description about the particular tree and also nursery activities which we have gone through during course work which was more knowledgeable and also, we have been to study tour which provides me a exposure to visit many places and raises my knowledge high. I am S.Kavinilavan currently doing my 1st year in M.Sc Floriculture and Landscape Architecture at Coimbatore. The infrastructure at Floriculture and Landscape Architecture department is really good, advanced and very useful for my studies. The nurseries and gardens are properly maintained, protected structures and laboratory are advanced, experimental fields, classrooms are spacious, libraries with good thesis works and the teaching here is engaging, real-world learning, easy to understand and practical oriented. This course provides knowledge about flower industry, landscaping, nursery industry etc.., and has a very good scope in the future with good employment opportunities.
