NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS)
NCC/NSS is included in the curriculum of all UG programmes. Students undergo 0+1 course credit registering either for NSS (7&8) or NCC (D12 Company) which is distributed over four semesters for I & II-year students and during IV semester.
The NSS unit (7&8) has been involved in various welfare activities in and around the campus and to the society. NSS Volunteers were involved in Eye camps, transfer of technologies to the farmers, social development activities, COVID awareness, blood donation camps, veterinary camps, health camps, NSS day, International yoga day, planting trees, rallies etc. The NSS volunteers are taken to the adopted village for special camping activities for a week to complete the credit requirement.
The NSS volunteers were instructed to enroll in the UNICEF MOYAS-Ya Weah Young Warrier programme against COVID-19 pandemic and the Volunteers posted messages in the social media during May 2021.
Dissemination of Agricultural technologies
Special lectures and demonstrations on Agriculture and allied activities were arranged to benefit the farmers, women and children in the village viz., Soil testing, importance of organic farming, demonstration on bee keeping, interactive session on farm mechanization, Demonstration on mushroom cultivation, vermicomposting, awareness programme on importance of minor millets and value addition, water saving methods in crop cultivation, marketing of agricultural produces.

Celebration of NSS Day
NSS Day (National Service Scheme Day) is celebrated in India on 24th September each year. It marks the establishment of the National Service Scheme in 1969 by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The day is observed to honor the contribution of NSS volunteers in various community service activities, promoting social welfare, and fostering a spirit of selfless service among youth. The purpose of NSS is to develop the personality of students through community service. The activities typically include a range of social, cultural, educational, and environmental programs, with an emphasis on making a positive impact on society.
Celebration of International Yoga Day
International Day of Yoga, is celebrated globally on 21st June every year. It was declared by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in December 2014, after a proposal by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, during his speech at the UN in 2014. The day aims to raise awareness about the benefits of yoga and its role in promoting physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Celebration of National Constitution Day
National Constitution Day (also known as Samvidhan Divas) is celebrated in India on 26th November every year. It marks the adoption of the Constitution of India in 1949 by the Constituent Assembly. The day is observed to honor the adoption of the Constitution and to raise awareness about the significance of the Indian Constitution, which came into effect on 26th January 1950.
NSS Special Camp 2024
Organized NSS Special camp from 08.08.2024 to 14.08.2024 at A. Vallalapatti Village, Melur block, Madurai District.
