PLACEMENT CELL ACTIVITIES
A separate cell for students counseling and placement is functioning in this college. This cell is organizing on campus and off campus interview by contacting various agro industries and food industries both for under graduate and post graduate. It facilitates the graduates in finding the right placement based on their caliber. Students of this college get placed in various sectors like Universities, banks, agro-based companies, food industries, Hospitals and NGO’s.
The cell organizes motivational talks by eminent personalities as well as by alumni of this college. It also helps the students in facing the challenges of life by conducting mock group discussions and interviews. For career guidance and entrepreneurship development special lectures were organized for motivating students to take up self employment programmes and also to plan their future career.
This cell is also engaged in conducting coaching classes for national level competitive examinations like civil services, Banking and TNPSC exams. This cell also organizes annual personality development programmes for the welfare of the students and language empowerment programmes. The major topics covered were personality enhancement and its importance, communication skills, Quantitative aptitude, Verbal Aptitude, Analytical & Logical Reasoning, Leadership Traits and Personality grooming, interview skills, group discussion, resume preparation, team building activities and games, role play and mock interview etc.,A separate library with books for competitive examinations and general knowledge documents are also being maintained in this placement cell.
For the past 5 years, out of 154 UG students, 46 students (30.00%) got placement during 2014-19 and 52 students (33.76 %) opted for higher studies. In B.Sc (Hons) FND programme(First batch of students) 29.54% got placement and 4 students awarded JRF fellowship for higher studies in national institutes. Out of 32 PG students, 20 students (62.50%) got placement during 2014-19. Twelve students (37.50%) opted for Ph.D. Out of 10 Ph.D. scholars, 9 Students (90.00%) got placement in various sectors during 2014-18 and Two Scholars (15.6%) are pursuing Post Doctoral programme at CSC &RI, Madurai.
