The Community Science College and Research Institute, Madurai is one of the Constituent Colleges of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. It is a premier Institute of higher learning committed to excellence in imparting scientific and managerial expertise in the field of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics. The Institute offers an under graduate degree programme viz, B.Sc.(Hons) Food Nutrition and Dietetics to meet the demand of the food processing sector and to achieve nutritional security of the country. Food nutrition and Dietetics has promoted Post Harvest Technology, New Food Product Development, Therapeutic Nutrition, Nutraceutical & Functional Foods and Community Nutrition, Family Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Child Care and Welfare, Gerontology, Work on ergonomics, modern communication technologies which provides the students in depth knowledge and skills for enhancing higher education opportunities, research capabilities, employability and entrepreneurship. The research findings of the Department are attributed to the research undertaken by the students and the faculty through University & externally funded projects. The research outcomes are translated to the stake holders for creating awareness and generating ideas and skill development for entrepreneurial ventures.

Ltd., Chennai, Seafood Export Units and International Agrl.Processing Unit to gain exposure and experience in the field of food science , processing and value addition .
Food quality control laboratory unit
Expertise in the field of food analysis and trained personnel provide skill based training on analyzing the nutrients, preservatives, contaminants and residue analysis to our students placed in the NABL accredited laboratories Chennai Metex, United Testing Laboratory, Salem; Nawal analytical laboratory Spice Board Quality Evaluation Laboratory and SMS laboratory , chennai The students gain the necessary analytical skills which prepare them for higher education and to work in R&D divisions.
