UNIVERSITY LIBRARY

The TNAU Library System comprises of a University Library and 10 constitutional college libraries that collectively support the teaching, research and extension programmes of the University. The University Library houses a total collection of over Two lakh documents comprising of books, theses, journals, and compact discs in the fields of Agricultural science, Agricultural engineering, horticulture ,literature and social sciences. All in-house operations in the library are fully computerized using the Koha software package that also provides web-based access to the online catalogue of Library. The benefit of consortia-based subscription to electronic resources is confined to its core members and also extended to all Constitutional Colleges, Research stations &KVKs through Remote access.

The Library is spread over four floors with the total covered area of 20,000 sq. ft. (approx.) and is partially air-conditioned. The library has seating capacity of 350 readers.

–  Membership:
All the students, faculty members and employees of the Institute can register themselves
for the membership of the Library. All Students, faculty and staff members are issued bar-
coded patron cards. Based on their entitlement, they can be borrowed the eligible number
of books.

–  Automation
The automated environment facilitates integrated library services for the users. Users are
benefited at large scale by using these services at their own departments and they can
reserve the materials.

–  Remote Access:
The University Library implemented the RemoteXS proxy middleware software for
remote access of electronic resources. This allows users to gain secure remote access of
all online license electronic resources and the Digital Repositories in 24X7.

–  Digital Collection
The digital documents of University library are available in the ICAR Krishikosh portal. It
includes rare books, theses, Reports and journal back volumes.

–  User Awareness Program:
Training session are also organized whenever a new product or service is introduced. The hands on training in using the e- resources, e-journals , databases and OPAC are given for familiarize.

–  Service Hours:
The library hours are 7days a week and 12 hours in week days and 8 hours in holidays enable the users to use the reading materials. The library electronic resources are available 24 X 7 in remote mode.
